2010 BELAIR-EDISION COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP 1
PROGRAM GUIDELINES
Belair-Edison Community Association is offering one time $500.00 scholarship to a needy student.
Applicant Eligibility
Applicant must have the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Belair-Edison
- Be a graduated senior this year (2010)
- Volunteered time for a community, community service or charitable project or event in Belair-Edison within the past year (must specify which project or event).
- Be a U.S citizen
Academic Requirements
Applicant must have the following:
- High school grade point average of at least 2.5 or higher
- Have taken either the ACT or SAT (score of 450 or higher in both Math & English)
- Will be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university as a freshman in the academic year of 2010-2011 (starting in the fall) as a full-time student.
- Must be pursuing a degree in Nursing, Pre Medical, Education or Social Work.
Description of Funds
The recipient will receive a onetime $500.00 ($250.00 per semester – fall/spring for the first year). The scholarship is to be applied towards academic expenses such as tuition, room and board and or books for the 2010-2011 academic year. Funds are provided by Belair Edison Community Association / a Private Donor. If selected, payment will be made and mailed directly to the student’s approved college or university.
*Additional Requirements
- Type a 300 word essay on “If you were a community activist what changes would you make to better your community and how would you use your educational goals into being a community activist and how would you go about doing this?”
- All essays must be submitted by August 1, 2010 to Belair Edison Community Association, 3412 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21213.
- Enclose a copy of your (SAT or ACT).
- Enclose a copy of the acceptance letter to the college or university that you will be attending this fall.
- Enclose a copy of final High School transcript or report card.
